One would think that a bachelor party in Atlantic City would be devoid of political discussion. Indeed, I promised myself that I would not discuss politics this weekend for two reasons: 1) two of my friends at the bachelor party are firebreathing neoncon ultraconservatives and thus it is impossible to discuss politics with them since they just spew the talking point lies, and 2) it's a bachelor party for chrissakes!!!
There we were at Hooters in the Trump Marina, and instead of wing eating and beer drinking (among other things), everyone was talking politics (and for once I did not start the conversation). Many of the party goers are angry with Bush and the Administration because Congress is getting involved with steroids in Baseball. Many are angry about the Bush Administration's actions in censoring Howard Stern. And there was talk about the Madrid terror attacks and how if that happened in the US, Bush would be doomed because it would prove that he could not protect America from Al-Queda.
There I was, listening and taking mental notes in anticipation of posting this diary when I got back (instead of drinking and eyeing the waitresses', what is wrong with me?). There was real passion from the Stern listeners. Stern has successfully brainwashed them into voting against Bush. There is also real anger among the sports fans re the intervention of the federal gov't. (I don't understand this one, but hey, I am a Democrat and all for gov't intervention). And finally many of the self described Bush supporters at the table were worried that he was actually going to lose this election BECAUSE of a new terror attack on America.
I am starting to feel like I am living in some sort of bizzaro world. Remember how it was not long ago when everyone that transpired in the world made Bush look good. Not only has the paradigm shifted, but I sense a Perfect Storm is brewing where every thing is working against Bush.
The Spanish Election results must have struck fear in the White House today. Their beloved Plan C (Terror Attack on US and/or Capture of Osama) may not win them the election after all. Indeed, it may make voters even angrier than ever.
What do they do now???
