CT Political Watch:
How's Karl Rove going to spin this one? In the midst of calls for Governor John Rowland to step down by members of both parties, the Greenwich Time is reporting that President Bush will be in Greenwich on January 29th to raise money for his presidential re-election bid. The Time reports "spokesman for Bush-Cheney '04 this week confirmed the president's plans to return to the town of his father's upbringing and grandfather's transformation to political patriarch."
Absent from Time reporter Neil Vigdor's piece was any mention of how the White House will handle a Presidential visit amidst the controversy surrounding an incumbent Republican governor who considers himself a close friend to President Bush and his family.
Rowland is leaking life every hour. But how Bush and Rowland are friends, how Rowland mimics Bush's governing style and, frankly, how Bush avoids being mentioned in the same story as the damaged Governor will all be on display for everyone to see.
The article from the
Greenwich Time notes:
GOP faithful, get out your checkbooks.
It will cost $2,000 per person to rub elbows with President Bush at a Jan. 29 fund-raiser for the incumbent candidate at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.
A spokesman for Bush-Cheney '04 this week confirmed the president's plans to return to the town of his father's upbringing and grandfather's transformation to political patriarch.
Bush is scheduled to appear at a 6 p.m. reception at the hotel, where 21 months ago he raised more than $1 million during a luncheon for the state GOP and incumbent U.S. Reps. Nancy Johnson, R-New Britain, and Rob Simmons, R-Stonington. The commander in chief spoke for about a half-hour at that fund-raiser.
