Yes, we're doing a heckuva job. But yes, you should still be scared to death. So, vote for us because we'll protect you, but we won't protect you enough so that you'd feel safe enough to vote for someone else.
That's been the entire message, with all its inherent contradictions, for the last 4 years. And it's the same today. The fear must remain ratcheted as high as it can go, yet they STILL must maintain that they're making the world safer every day.
At what point does the public decide to pick a side? When do they put two and two together and think "Wait, if we're not safe, isn't that YOUR fault?"
