Perhaps at some point it will occur to Karl Rove that nearly every American has by now surveyed the group of people that comprise his/her extended family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and members of various community associations and recognized that there are homosexuals among them who pay their taxes, go to work, and pursue their rights to life, liberty and happiness without in any way preventing them from pursuing their own. Because, at root, it's really that simple.
And then Rove will turn to the president and ask him, "Is it really true to our Christian values to use our power to demand that the country marginalize and ostracize their own friends, family members and neighbors?"
But then again, I'm a real optimist.
