Carlos Watson
covers the portentous resurrection of the Kerry campaign(!!!) for CNN:
Two weeks ago, Kerry appeared to be politically moribund and any kind of resurgence was beginning to seem unlikely. But the media loves a good fight and has begun to shine a more critical light on the new campaign frontrunner: President Bush.
...which prompted this love letter from yours truly:

Jeez, Carlos--exaggerate much? A couple of wonky polls coinciding with the RNC/911 anniversary, and Kerry's suddenly "politically moribund" with little hope of "resurgence". To somebody who started studying politics, say, yesterday, yeah, maybe. Those who've been around somewhat longer are a bit more sanguine--a pity none of us are breathless enough to be hired at places like CNN.
Of course, a few short paragraphs later, we learn that--surprise!--such lead changes are extremely common in presidential races. "Moribund". Yep. Mmm-hm.
Come clean: y'all pretty much just create your own narrative moment by moment...right? As you said, "The media loves a good fight"...and they'll be sure to give us one, even if they have to manufacture it themselves.
