Lawrence Wilkerson is talking again. Several months ago he admitted that the State Department case against Saddam Hussein and Iraq had been on shakey grounds, at best. This week, in an
interview with David Brancaccio of PBS's NOW, he went a step further. He said,
I participated in a hoax on the American people, the international community and the United Nations Security Council. How do you think that makes me feel? Thirty-one years in the United States Army and I more or less end my career with that kind of a blot on my record? That's not a very comforting thing.
He goes on to discuss his contention that the Vice President has hijacked the intelligence decision making process, giving two very specific examples: the decision to depart from the Geneva Conventions, and the decisions that led the process for post-war planning (or lack thereof).
My stomach churns when I read this kind of information from insiders.
