Two Iraqis were killed and two others wounded, including a driver for the BBC, by a roadside booby trap which exploded after a US convoy passed through Abu Nawas Street in downtown Baghdad.
Mohammad Khalaf, a driver employed by the BBC, sufftered a headwound from flying glass following the explosion. No journalists were travelling with him at the time of the blast. The windows of Khalaf's car were shattered.
Earlier this morning, a carbomb exploded in front of the police barracks in the eastern part of Mossul, killing 5 and wounding 51. "At 9:05 am Sunday a Japanese-made car arrived in front of the barracks at full speed. Police opened fire on the car, which then exploded.", says police captain Nidam Mohammad. The explosion set several cars on fire and bodies were blasted high in the air, landing on neighboring residential rooftops.
