Well, before I post my new preferences for the Democratic candidates, I thought it was only appropriate to offer a moment of Blog silence for the departed candidates: Carol Mosely Braun and Richard Gephardt, both done in by the Iowa Caucuses. And so: ..........................
Thanks to them both for their service to this country and for their participation in this great American process. All the best wishes.
Okay. Moments over. Next!
- Still have not settled absolutely, but I'm imagining a Kerry - Edwards ticket. I know Edwards has said that he does not want to be the VP, that is not why he is in this race, but don't candidates have to say that sort of thing?
- Edwards was the big winner in Iowa. Sure, Kerry won and is, for now anyway, Come Back Kerry, but I found Edwards' second place finish far more impressive. And I am really digging his message.
- Kerry is looking strong, and presidential. His early attacks on Dean still naw at me some, but not nearly to the degree that Lieberman's did, and do.
- Dean. Despite his over-the-top rant before bolting Iowa, I still identify with the man's open disdain, and yes, anger with Bush. But perhaps that is all Dean is. Got to consider the electability factor.
- Clark... What's to say? Still like the man's military experience. I did try to read his book, "Winning Modern War" but just couldn't get into it. Hey, I'm a Gen-Xer and so culturally predisposed to a short attention span. Damn that Sesame Street conditioning! Still say Clark would make a great Sec. of State or Sec. of Defense. But what do I know.
- The remaining candidates have fallen off my radar screen. Hey, I am unemployed and jobsearching like mad, taking care of my 3-year-old daughter, and taking a college class, etc.
That is all... for now!
