Have a Great Vacation, You Bozo
Holden over at First Draft: has a lovely photo of the prez holding hands with the Saudi tyrant du jour and some interesting revelations about that country's ties to our "build it and they will come" open house in Iraq.
Turns out the son of former head of the Saudi diplomatic mission in Sudan, Sayyid al-Ghamdi, has been identified as the suicide bomber who took down 22 U.S. troops and contractors in the infamous December 2004 "Tent Bombing" in Mozul.
The perpetrator was the oldest son of a diplomat from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, our alleged ally in the War on Terror.
On Monday, the Saudi-owned daily Asharq Al-Awsat identified the butcher responsible: 20-year old Ahmad Sayyid Ahmad al-Ghamdi, a Saudi medical student.
Holden doesn't have much to say about it. I don't either. What's there to say? Well, maybe the following:
Roughly four years ago today, Pres. George W. Bush took off for a long vacation in Texas. He left with specific knowledge of actual terrorist threats to the United States. Threats he chose to ignore. He came back to read "My Pet Goat" while two American cities were attacked. Since that attack, thousands of Americans and Iraqis have died.
Four years later, while the President takes his 49th vacation to lovely Crawford and in the wake of the death of 22 U.S. Marines and untold numbers of Iraqis today, we leave you with the image above. George Bush holding hands with our friends, the Saudis.
Could we have any better taste in friends?
I searched for any diaries with this info but haven't found them. If it's been diaried, let me know and I'll remove it.
