let us pray* for our community, the world, and all people in need.
In wonder, gratitude and self-giving, let us pray for our community:
- For those who have been slandered, directly or by extension;
- For those who come to this place because they have nowhere else to turn;
- For those who pour heart and soul into making real what has been virtual;
- For our leaders, formal and informal;
- For the broad variety of gifts to be found here, and the purposes to which they are put.
Pray for the community.
In care and concern for the world around us, for the environment, the people and nations, let us pray:
Pray for the world.
In compassion and openness for all in any need, let us pray:
- For addicts and the troubled;
- For the mentally ill, and those whose lives they affect;
- For the very rich, that they use their wealth wisely;
- For those threatened for exposing government secrecy;
- For those facing unemployment;
- For the corrupt, that their hearts may be changed, and some good might come of their wrong-doing;
- For those charged with war crimes, that they meet with justice and mercy in appropriate measure, and that atonement work for their victims and families;
- For Connie Chung. Oh dear God, for Connie Chung...
- For our leaders, in government and outside, that they might steer us with compassion, wisdom, insight and a sense of right and wrong;
- For ourselves and our own needs, spoken and unspoken.
Pray for all people in need.
