Being progressive means confronting your fears. Any honest person admits that we can't/shouldn't impose our will on the world or our friends. A diverse group huddled around a campfire figuring out survival for all is better than partisan politics.
I watched REAL TIME tonight & found myself frowning at Bill because he gave W credit inspite of mean ignorance. B said maybe it's good we have troops in Iraq. they're on the border of Iran which is now a legitimate threat. (unlike Iraq).
I felt crazy but considered the thought for a moment.
back to my title: Liberalism is hard work.
A guiding principle of liberalism is fairness.
Fairness for liberals means protecting those w/ less financial power. It's hard to sell fairness. Liberals don't want to play the nasty character smear game. That tactic is against their principles. So how do we do this?
Liberals know instinctively that constrictive conservativism isn't the opening for all of us. Why are they winning right now?
Liberalism is hard work. It's confusing to be open and critical. IMHO, that mind set has allowed the best from human beings.
