Republican: Wayne Gilchrest easily beat back a challenge by state Senator Richard Colburn, by about 62-38.
Democrat: if Kos had any hope about this district, he can forget it now. his favored candidate, Harry Sampson, was defeated by 2002 nominee Ann Tamlyn.
Maryland 6
Republican: Roscoe Bartlett won an even more convincing victory than Gilchrest. He defeated
D.A (or State's Attorney as it is called in Maryland) Scott Rolle by about 78-22%
Ohio
Senate: Democrat State Senator Eric Fingerhut easily won the primary.
Only interesting house primary. Ohio 14. Democrats think they have a chance in this district because of some impropriety committed by Republican Rep Steve LaTourette. I forget the details.
A surprise result from the Democrats I have to say. Capri Cafaro, a 26 year old daughter of a wealthy businessman who was indicted (though not charged) in the bribery scandal involving the former Congressman whos name I forget.
Capri Cafaro had major backing from some unions, but the 54% of the vote she received is a major surprise given that she beat 2 very well funded challengers: Ed Jerse, a State Representative and Herb Hammer, a succesful businessman and longtime party donor.
