The first ever YearlyKos convention will take place June 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. We have had more than 600 pre-register for this event! The hallmark of developing this convention is that it has been a grassroots collaborative process, one that intends to develop the best resources to advance the progressive cause.
However, we need your help!
On November 19th, we have our first fundraising deadline. Making this deadline is critical in meeting our initial expenses with the convention. If these are not met, there is a chance that YearlyKos will not take place.
How much do we need to raise? $15,000.
So here's what you can do to make this vital conference, leading up to the 2006 elections, a reality:
- Donate to YearlyKos. * This is our most immediate need. Even if you're not planning on attending, we'd appreciate your support. The information from the workshops, seminars and speakers at the convention will be shared with the greater Kos community online during and after the event. This is truly a Kos-wide event, even for those who can't physically be there. If you can give at least $25 we would really appreciate it, but as you can see, we have a significant fundraising goal so, if you can, please give more.
- Become a Corporate Sponsor. ** Would your business be interested in sponsoring this convention? We can offer great exposure and many benefits to any corporation that will support this effort.
- Connections. ** Do you know a corporation or individual that you think would be interested in supporting YearlyKos? If so, let us know.
- In-Kind Donation. There are several in-kind donations we need for this convention. Refer to the link to see the list of items and services we can use.
Remember, we need to raise $15,000 by November 19th. Please help us TODAY! You will receive our appreciation for building the cornerstone of a key event for the blogsphere. Oh, and check our our "mojometer" at the YearlyKos website to see the progress of this fundraising appeal.

* YearlyKos is organized for exclusively charitable purposes under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, an application is pending with the IRS for the recognition of YearlyKos as a charitable organization under section 501(c)3 of the IRC.
** P.S. I will be in the New Orleans area from November 8-14 participating in animal rescue operations, so if you don't get a response during that time, I will contact you as soon as I return.
MORE ABOUT YEARLYKOS
The YearlyKos project is more than a convention. First, we hope to use every bit of technology we can get our hands on to make the events of the YearlyKos Convention accessable to non attendees. This includes webcasting and live blogging so anyone anywhere can participate in discussions. Second, the systems we need to put in place to make this a real community planned convention are the kinds of systems needed to build infrastructure for a larger progressive coalition (see The Think Tank and LAB Las Vegas). We hope to build a model of community participation for others to use who want to engage the netroots. Third, we are doing real research to determine what issues are most important to progressives and why. This is important. If we want "the leaders" to listen to us, it's in our best interest to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
