Allow me to share something personal..... I wish I could live
forever.
Sounds sorta silly huh?
Ok, perhaps I mean to say, I wish I could live for 300 years or so, in good health.
Why?
Well, its because I feel like I have been laying the foundations for a good career but now I am on the old side of the employables.. so I am becoming hard to employ.
Its because, as I was devoted to that long education, I came to motherhood late, now I am running up against the cut-off point for a possible last child.
The two get together and I find myself underemployed, very disenchanted with a society that does not support and certainly doesn't cherish scientific advancement as it should, and a personal money situation that says don't add to the family. The moment I get the next contract I will be working 12 hour days, most excellent for the bank account, not so great for the process of reproduction and caring for little babies.
If I knew I could put off this baby until say 10 years from now, I would do it, in a heart beat. If I could space out the babies to every 10 years for the rest of my natural 300 years then I think that would be divine.
Those babies (as do mine now) would be taught to be stewards of the world and kind neighbors to all. They would be taught to be self-sufficient, how to chop wood, how to haul it in the winter, how to stoke the woodstove, how to sow the crops and how to weed them. They would be taught the history of science, the tragedy of religion, and the futility of ego.
I would be doing my part to counteract the QuiverFull movement.

Malignant Fertility or perhaps Militant Fecundity
They believe that
"Psalms 127: Unless the Lord builds the house, it's builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise up early and in vain you stay up late toiling for food to eat for He grants sleep to those he loves. Sons are an heritage from the Lord, Children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies at the gate."
Militant Fecundity indeed.
A final thought, consider the geometric progression of militant fertility. Assume that the intensive closed homeschooling that these kids makes them each want at least 15 kids a piece, well then lets look at the numbers:
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar = 15 QuiverFull kids
Each child x 15 = 225 QuiverFull grandkids
225 QuiverFull kids x 15 = 3375 QuiverFull great grandkids (that's just 2 generations)
3375 QuiverFull kids x15 = 50,625 QuiverFull great grandkids and some serious power.
Man.. its ok to fun off screaming and hide in a closet now.
