It is a deal of epic proportions, both in the money involved and in the further consolidation of power in the media business.
The Comcast-Disney deal now on the table would further consolidate huge media power (including questions of access) into fewer hands.
The question is... With the recent revelations that big media is pouring big money into Kerry's campaign, what stand will he take on this issue?
Comcast is the country's largest cable TV supplier. As such, what interests will they have in selling access to comeptitors' content?
Keep in mind that Disney/ABC is already one of the largest media conglomerates in the U.S. owning multiple TV and radio outlets.
In fact, radio has become a particularly egregious example of media consolidation with fewer than a handful of caompanies owning or operating a majority of the primary outlets in major markets.
Where will Kerry come down on this continued media consolidation?
Having an unbiased media is critical to a healthy democracy.
The situation isn't good right now and this deal has the potential to make the situation worse.
As the presumptive nominee, I would like to see Kerry answer questions regarding this mega-merger.
