I'm dumping the AP story here because it's short. Bascially, the desperate Karl Rove has a new strategy: Link the failing Iraqi war to the magic words "liberals" and "9/11."
Karl, the Iraq war is beyond cheap political tricks. Although people may buy your "Swift Boat Liars" crap because it doesn't affect them, war affects them.
And although nothing is worse than being notified that a family member or friend has been slaughtered in the Iraq meatgrinder, many fear their family might be next and it's a sacrifice they are not willing to make.
People are scared in this country, Karl, scared of YOU! And you know of scare tactics, don't you Karl. Not only are people who have someone stuck in the quaqmire afraid, it is people who have children in high school. They are scared. They are scared your going to scoop up their chilren and send them to be killed, Karl. Get it? Dead! You can't escape that simple fact. It won't go away, you can't distract them.
Karl, nobody wants their kids dying for oil or Haliburton or the Saudi sheiks. We are talking life or death here, Karl, so you better come up with some sorry excuse to get the hell out or prepare to be a lame duck for the rest of your sorry presidency.
Karl, you make me proud to be a liberal.
From the AP
NEW YORK - Speaking in a Manhattan ballroom just a few miles north of ground zero, Karl Rove said on Wednesday night that the Democratic party did not understand the consequences of the Sept. 11 attacks.
"Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Rove said. "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."
Rove, President Bush's chief political advisor, spoke at the state Conservative Party's annual dinner. He praised the conservative movement's success, calling it "the guiding philosophy for the White House, the Senate, the House."
Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.
"Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies."
Rove also denounced Sen. Dick Durbin's comments comparing interrogation at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to the methods of Nazis and other repressive regimes. He said the statements have been broadcast throughout the Middle East, putting American troops in greater danger. Durbin has since apologized for the remarks.
"No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals," Rove said.
By the way, Karl, liberals weren't preaching understanding, moderation or any other such crap. Try finding a quote on that. 9/11 happened in a very liberal city. Try another myth.
And by the way, conservatives were very prepared for war. A war in Iraq. Against people who had nothing to do with 9/11. Who didn't have weapons of mass destruction. Who now are living in complete and utter chaos. Who are suffering the fate of a thousand 9/11s.
This is what you are running away from, Karl.
