Am I to Blame for the War and Economy?
I was living in Austin Texas when George W. Bush was running for his first Governorship against Ann Richards.
A couple blocks smack dab in front the the State Capitol Building on Congress Avenue was a coffee shop called Little City (I live in New York now, I'm not sure if it's still there).
One day at work a campaign party came in. There were probably 12 to 15 people in the group. It was George W. Bush's campaign... He was there... for a photo op and the typical "shake hands with the locals" sorta thing. Everyone started ordering their variety of coffee, and pastry or bagel.
A girl working for the campaign asked me if I would mind turning down the music just a tad while they did their thing. I was annoyed with them... They showed up unannounced... and I was Pro Ann Richards... I told her "No Problem"
I turned around and opened the counter and turned UP the volume just one notch. She smiled and said "Thank You"
I was playing the compilation of the "Wax Trax Black Box"
So as we were making drinks and food... They were doing their political thing, and she came to me again... smiled... and asked if I would "mind turning it down a tiny bit more"
"No Problem" I turned around and turned the volume up one more notch.
This back and forth happened about seven or eight times, each time, her smile, my "no problem" followed by my inching up the volume one more notch.
The last time she asked... She was gritting her teeth... The campaign including George W. Bush were all getting uncomfortable. W was cringing as the restaurant speakers were rustling and about to bust... And they were being forced to listen to "BEERS, STEERS, & QUEERS" by The Revolting Cocks full blast.
I did not get a good tip.
They left. I voted for Ann and moved to NYC.
Am I responsible for Bush hating America???
