I have recently taken a personal pledge that a fellow Kosak thought was good idea so I'm going to share it. I call it the $20/20 pledge. For the next twenty paychecks ( I already started 2 paychecks ago) I am going to give $20 to a democrat running for higher office. $20/20 weeks . If you get Paid Bi-weekly you still have just enough time to do it. $20 dollars is an affordable amount and 20 weeks (or twenty pay checks) makes it an easy enough number to remember before election time.
Tips I learned from when I did this last year
- I have treated this like I do direct deposit and when I get paid I actually right $20 dollars less in my checkbook. That way I have "already spent the money" and won't spend it one something else.
- I have already filled a couple of the checks ahead of time and they are stuck on a bulletin board above my computer. If they are already filled out it reminds me.
- When I get a little extra ( I got a little bonus check from work, also when my income tax comes) I will deduct $40,$60,$80 whatever from my checking account right away. Then I will fill out a couple extra checks. I like mailing one a week it makes me feel connected.
- This year I write D-KOS in the memo of every check, this hasn't been endorsed by any of the main Kosacks but I am endorsing them and US.
