And that is actually as shame.
I started a
poll about a week ago to see how support for candidates was spread out. I tried to include as many names as possible for those who were dissatisfied with the Kos poll (and for those of you who were asking where the names came from, that's your answer).
The poll was moving at a brisk pace until I posted a
diary with the results, within minutes, on candidates group of supporters started bombarding the poll.
And it is a shame because by "freeping*" the poll, they will not know where their candidate places in preference amongst all candidate supporters.
Here is a
link for the latest results. As you can see, General Clark wins outright. This was not the case early on (Clark actually won, and had broad support amongst most voters)...but after a few days, Sen. Feingold caught up to him and passed the General with a slim margin.
Both men had broad support amongst those voting...
But as you can see from the results on the link above, of those casting their votes for General Clark (158), 99.4% had him as their first candidate. He receives virtually no support from any other person casting a vote
not for Clark.
Clearly, a large number of Clark supporters came to the site and voted for Clark simply to ensure he won. I can't say I understand the logic in this, but the results are there to see.
So an opportunity was missed to see just how broad support was for certain candidates. There was also some interesting combinations going on among the different factions within voting blocks.
For those of you who feel the need to win every poll on the internets, you missed a nice opportunity to show that your candidate had broad support beyond just "first position supporters." It honestly looked like that evidence was forming, but the sample was too small.
Too bad...
For those of you who have not, the poll is open until July 1st. Still time to vote. I encourgae you to rank only those people whom you would want to get your vote, otherwise you could have a candidate win on your re-distributed vote....
*Please do not dwell on this word as it is an accepted term used at this site to which means "skew the poll" and is not intended to imply that the individuals doing this are Republican operatives.
