There is one Saddam gloat that really bothers me (actually there are a few but I'll focus on this one). It's the idea that it was degrading for Saddam to be shown getting checked out for lice and with a tongue depressor.
How could that be? Is that poor treatment? Is it a put down to get a medical exam? Is it degrading if they find a problem? Or degrading that they don't?
Is this why we cannot have National Healthcare in the US... they are afraid it's too degrading?
I don't see that as degrading in any way.
PS: neither is living in a hole really. Why was Saddam still in Iraq? He could have retired and lived his life in luxery somewhere... he went to ground not unlike our President on 9/11, because it's a good place to hide. Besides who are they fooling, that hole was not set up as a permanent quarter, it's a hide, I believe he was probably living at that farm. (PS: whose farm is it?)
I'm totally for the capture and trial of human rights criminals, especially at this point, Saddam, whose freedom was a shadow on Iraqi's.
But I hate it when people take emotional cover by gloating about little things like this. It's Napoleanic, emotionally, in my opinion. Striking out because of fear and feelings of personal inadequacy. It's a pet peeve so maybe I'm overreacting... but I don't think so.
