People should be demanding to repeal this pork laden crap peice of legislation, and look at what is seriously needed to at least maintain, or dare I say improve our infrastructure. Do we really need a bridge to nowhere in Alaska?
This whole thing makes me so sick. Besides the incompetant relief effort, this could possibly have been avoided, or at least been less devastating. It's like driving without car insurance. Sure, everyone hates paying it, but would you be willing to gamble and lose everything you own, plus future wages to a lawsuit? NO!

Cheaping out on things always comes back to bite you in the ass later. How much will this disaster cost, not just in human lives, but monetarily? Surely the money spent to shore up the levees would pale in comparison to this economic disater.
And for the oil companies who wanted to drill and run pipe lines thru the wetlands, they should be forced to pay for some of this mess.
