I know many on here are chomping at the bit for a a fight. But I don't see Roberts as "extraordiary," to use the phrase of that wonderful bipartisan agreement. Who would be extraordinary? Janice Rogers Brown and Edith Jones for sure. Owen and Luttig, perhaps. But Roberts is bright, well-qualified and has no real paper trail with which to attack him. Whoever Bush picks, and you know he's eventually going to get one through, will be just about as conservative as Roberts.
While Roberts may be to the right of O'Connor, he's not as right as Scalia and Thomas. More probably a couple of degrees from Rehnquist. If this were a replacement for Stevens, I may feel differently. But unless something comes up between now and the confirmation vote, if I were in the senate, I would vote against him, but I wouldn't support a filibuster. This is not the one to go to the ramparts over.
