I've heard much over the last few days about the administration's insane plans to attack Iran, but there has been little but eerie silence on what can be done to stop it.
Perhaps there is little we can do, but we can certainly try...
Here is the text of my email, sent to all the Senators on the Foreign Relations Committee, as well as my own Senators and Rep:
Dear Senator:
I am writing to you because of your position on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
It has come to my attention that President Bush is planning some extremely ill-advised military actions in Iran. The source of this information is Seymour Hersh, a source widely recognized as considerably more trustworthy than the administration. Hersh has interviewed military officers who have told him that the president is planning airstrikes against targets in Iran, and that the use of nuclear weapons has not been ruled out.
I trust that you are as alarmed as I am by this revelation, and I hope you will forgive my bluntness in stating my belief that President Bush appears to be psychotic. Since you are a foreign relations expert, there is no need for me to belabor the numerous reasons why this foolhardy action should not be allowed to take place.
I hope you will exercise all means at your disposal to prevent the United States from breaking the sixty-one-year global taboo on using nuclear weapons, as opposed to merely having them. I hope you will be very public in so doing.
The future of our country is riding on preventing this man from acting out his personal John Wayne/ Tim LaHaye fantasy.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
