Harry Reid on Chuck Schumer's proposal that Reid could include the public option in the health care bill that he sends to the Senate floor, thereby creating a 60-vote threshold for removing the public option from the legislation (using the "painless filibuster" for good purposes):
REID: He would rather say anything so it wasn't up to him.
Reid's answer doesn't make any sense. Other than characterizing Schumer as a blowhard, it was one sentence of utter gibberish followed by him turning his back and walking out of the room.
Can you imagine Reid treating President Snowe with the same disdain? Of course not. After all, she's one Republican among 60 Democrats, and everybody knows you can't get health care reform passed without 60 Democrats and 1 Republican.
