All very well and good as we philosophize on "momentum" and "ground support" and GOTV.
But . . . . as "undecided" still is running a strong first or second in many "early primary states," its literally anyone's race.
I say this not as a way of saying that the "undecideds" will galvanize around Lieberman -- they won't.
But if the democratic "establishment" gets really freaked out about the prospect of a "Dean" nomination, they could annoint someone as the anti-Dean (Gep, Kerry, Edwards) and rally behind them.
One well orchestrated "smear" campaign about Dean around Iowa or New Hampshire time, and things could get seriously ugly.
That said, there is no one in this race that I'd rather be (from the Dem side) than Howard Dean.
There many times that I love to be the "I told you so" guy. This is decidedly not one of them.
I still want Dean to be the nominee. I'll vote for him in the March Illinois Primary (write in, if I have to).
And, for no other reason than to start a (currently) contrarian "meme" --
Dean is inevitable!
Frankly, with his money, anger, and message, I don't think that there is anyone out there who can stop him.
Its getting annoying how the Kerry folks (and the media) are saying this is "all wrapped up." What they don't realize is that it is wrapped up. And Dean is the wrapper!!
DEAN IS UNSTOPPABLE! Kerry voters and Edwards voters might as well stay home in Wisconsin, New York, etc.
Get out of the way or get on board: The Dean Train is comin' into the station!!!
