Apparently reporters from the Palm Beach Post have ticked off Jeb Bush enough to get banned from year-end interviews that are traditional in statehouse press corps.
Ostensibly, the ban is because a reporter swore at one of Jeb's staffers a few months ago during a spat over an open-records request.
Coincidentally, however, the Palm Beach Post has "been uncovering big problems in contracts within the Department of Education," reports the
Tallahassee Democrat.
Another
article reports: "The Post also said the governor's office is refusing to provide public records requested by the newspaper's reporters. In a letter mailed Dec. 5, attorney Martin Reeder said the office was breaking the law by not providing public records or imposing exorbitant fees to obtain them."
In light of the stonewalling of the Sept. 11 commission, it's nice to see the Bush family is consistent about open access to information.
