Montana and Arizona are two states which people see as part of a "Western Strategy" for the Democratic Party. I think those who are coming down on the side of a "50-State Strategy" are more on the right track, but that would include these states as well. Both now have Democratic Governors, both have Senate races coming up that look promising. So, when I saw two stories come my way about interesting campaign finance issues happening in the west, I thought they'd be a nice thing to throw up at my own blog (
http://blog.loyaloppositionresearch.com) and here at DailyKos.
In big sky country (that's Montana, right?) an interesting story has come about surrounding a medicinal marijuana ballot measure from last year.
The Office of National Drug Control Policy, otherwise known as the drug czar, is claiming immunity from campaign finance laws in respect to their participation in the fight over the marijuana measure.
Meanwhile, in Arizona...
The Citizens Clean Elections Commission is tabling a set of complaints against the 2002 campaign of Governor Janet Napolitano, and considering the case closed.
For the sake of brevity, this is only a portion of what I posted at blog.loyaloppositionresearch.com. Drop by there, to read about this and other recent developments in campaign finance. I'll be happy to welcome any new readers.
