Progressives will remember that when Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" first came out, the right-wing community collaborated to put pressure on individual theaters and theater chains so that they would not show Moore's movie.
Rather than wait for that to happen to Al Gore and "An Inconvenient Truth," I am asking progressives to check the theater listing at Al Gore's movie website, and see if any theaters in your area are passing on the movie. If they are, I urge you to contact your local theaters, and/or their parent companies, and ask that "An Inconvenient Truth" be carried locally.
Recent Daily Kos' diaries have shown that the right-wing pundits are highly threatened by the success of Gore's message, so it's important that we make it clear to theaters nationwide that we want this movie shown in our communities. "An Inconvenient Truth" is a vital part of the national dialogue regarding an environmental problem that could threaten the world as a whole, and will very likely threaten the environmental -- as well as economic -- health of our families.
So please visit Gore's website and see if a theater in your community is listed. Also, please note that they are adding theaters on a regular basis, so keep an eye on the list as it will change.
Below I have listed contact information for many popular theater chains in the U.S. If you see that an important theater or chain is missing, feel free to add the contact information in your comment below. You can also look up your local theaters' contact information online at Yahoo's Movie Theater site. After entering your zip code, choose a theater and then click on Theater Info for contact details.
And finally, one other positive action you can take is to go to the movie website's blog and post your zip code with a request that they show the movie in your area.
Thanks for your help!
