Just reported on Inside Politics, thus very fragmentary, but ...
Clark ...... 17 (14)
Dean ....... 17 (17)
Gephardt ... 13 (12)
Lieberman ... 13 (15)
Bush approval 50/47 (51/45)
Ya know, that Clark dude might be getting somewhere, if he only had a campaign. :)
Seriously, though, think about it. Both Clark and Kerry had campaign shakeups in the last week. But all campaign shakeups are not created equal.
The difference is that Kerry is slipping away in the national polls (Judy Woodruff didn't even list his numbers), and cratering in absolute-must-win NH, while Clark is pacing Dean in the national poll that everyone watches, and moving into Dean territory in fundraising.
So, the difference is that one campaign shakeup is by a guy heading straight for a smoking hole, and the other is by a guy who is holding altitude and airspeed, but needs to light off his afterburner to start making his climbout.
I'd rather be in Dean's position (in the primary!), but if Clark gets some action going, he has plenty out there to work with.
