Every summer, thousands of young men and women participate in a musical activity called drum corps. Similar to marching bands, but in a much higher musical and marching level, these corps are self-sustained entities that travel across the country for months.
After Katrina struck the parent organization, Drum Corps International (DCI) offered a coordinated response to FEMA in the form of the use of the numerous "chuck wagons" that each corps uses. These large kitchens on wheels are the size of an 18 wheeler, and feed over 150 at one sitting. With probably 25-50 of these rigs available, did FEMA accept the offer made last Wednesday?
No..........
FEMA "declined the offer of help as states and regions have well thought-out systems already in place to feed and victims."
If what we're seeing is well thought-out, or even a system, then we're all in deep sh*t.
