I watched "The Star Chamber" tonight - just finished it - and I'd gotten it because I remembered it from the 80s (it came out in 1983) and I'd liked it and it occurred to me out of the blue, "The Star Chamber...right...the judges that take justice into their own hands when (as they perceive it) justice has failed...that was a bitchen movie, man!" So I went yonder to Tower Records and found it for $7.50 (one hell of a fucking bargain, I tell you).
So like I say, I just finished watching it. Turns out all I remembered about it were the barest bones; I really felt like I'd never seen it. Amazing movie. Mindfucks you good and proper. The point is, the way the Star Chamber (the circle of judges, and don't worry, I won't give too much away, in case you haven't seen it) works is at the level of gods on earth - presumed, self-appointed gods that administer justice, hand it out in spades, according to the way they see intolerable injustice. Fucked me up, for real, because I was absolutely snookered into going one way when the other, the moral way, suddenly revealed itself...let yourself be sucked into this one, it's completely entertaining and in possession of depth and shit, it's even got action scenes with Michael Douglas (and his pretty-obvious stunt double)! What more do you people want?
I'd speak more on this - oh how I want to - but I can't if I feel like I'm giving the movie away. If you're in L.A., hit a Tower up, you'll probably find it for $7.50 like I did, which like I say is a hella good deal.
Peace.
