Readers of the DailyKOS:
On a number of other sites, I have just copied and pasted my blog entries, so people could read them, and perhaps journey to our website. Here however, I am going to make an appeal straight from the campaign.
I am the Campaign Manager of Bruderly for Congress. Dave Bruderly is a professional engineer, running in the Sixth Congressional District, here in Florida. For those not familiar with gerrymandered districts, ours runs from Jacksonville to Gainesville, to Ocala, to the northern tip of the Orlando Metro area. The current Congressman is an 18-year veteran and we think it's time he retires.
Cliff Stearns has over a million dollars in his warchest and experience on the Hill, despite never really doing much for the District.
Dave has grassroots support that is growing every day, a background in engineering that will allow him to help solve major problems that challenge our country and the desire for serious change.
Dave is lucky enough to have one other factor in his favor:
He is right. (find out how under the fold.)
Dave is right about the need for the U.S. to leave Iraq, allowing the U.N. and the surrounding nations to whom a free Iraq provides security, to step in and defend a nascent democracy. An insurgent force dedicated to the murder of U.S. troops will have no reason to fight when those troops are gone.
Dave is right about the need for 45 million Americans who don't have health insurance, the millions more who have ineffective insurance and the millions who are wasting money on the middlemen of HMO's and PPO's, to have true health coverage that keeps our workforce strong and healthy and our children out of hospitals and in the classroom. He strongly supports Rep. Conyers plan for Universal Health Care.
Dave is right about the need for that workforce to get an honest days wage for an honest days work and to work for a company that won't screw them when retirement comes around.
Dave is right about the need for the children who populate our nation's classrooms to receive education from teachers educated with 21st Century information, blessed with 21st Century technology and preparing those students for the 21st Century world economy.
Finally, Dave is right about the issue he feels most passionately about. American industry, researchers and scientists have the opportunity to create a massive new American economy, providing the world with a cleaner environment, more efficient power and a fossil fuel-free way of life. We must take advantage of that opportunity to create new technologies that will lead to new jobs for our great Nation and new challenges for our research community, including the greatest university in the country, the University of Florida. (editorial disclosure: This is not a campaign belief. I am a Gator.)
In short, Dave is right, except when it comes to political spectrums. He is a proud Democrat, but he is not left, right or center in his beliefs for our country. Dave Bruderly is running to represent the entire Sixth District, and to be their voice in Washington.
Many of you want candidates to say, "I will vote Democratic on every thing." That's not going to happen here. Dave will represent Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and Greens who live in our District, because he will be a TRUE Representative, as the Constitution demanded.
In short, Dave isn't left or right, because he is going to be a new choice and a New Voice, representing REAL people, not just the Washington Elite and the Bush Administration that our current Congressman, Millionaire Stearns, has fallen in love with.
We need your help to spread the word online about Dave. Please visit our website at http://www.bruderly.com, check out my blog if you'd like at http://blog.bruderly06.com. If you think our campaign is one you can get behind, please contribute! We want to take back the House for the Democrats and if we can do it here, we can do it anywhere!
Please note that the first thing you see on the website is a "REAL IDEAS" button. If you live in the Sixth District, click it and tell us what you want Dave to do in Congress. Because, when he gets there, he'll speak with your voice.
