Interesting comparison, favorable to Ol' Bill, by . . . a conservative Republican, Bill Bartlett, author of "Impostor: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy." The gist: Bush's tax cuts produced a significantly weaker economic recovery than Clinton's tax increases.

Now, Bartlett and us dKosers can quibble about whether Dubya "betrayed" the Reagan legacy or merely followed Reagan's example to its logical conclusion, but the bigger point is . . .

Let's hope it's not too late. T-bill interest rates were way up yesterday, and kept most of those gains today. The interest rate/dollar devaluation/inflation Katrina is coming, unless we beef up our financial levees PDQ, which ain't likely under Dubya. The only question is whether this is the start of it.
