Short diary, but this needs saying, and this is why I don't read the papers anymore. The test of how bad a bill is, is how far backwards the MSM has to bend to find a spin for a lousy piece of legislation. I'm glad I found out that the reason "THE LEFT" (I guess that means me) is mad with Obama is because he plays "by the rules."
Let's see. People worked and campaigned their butts off for him, gave him two solid majorities, then when the Dems cave too fast and compromise when they don't have to, it's us who don't play by the rules. I thought diving into the political process WAS playing by the rules. Dumb, stupid me. Good thing we have the old farts at the NY Times to set me straight.
Even the title of the article is offensive: "The Left's New View of Obama." I love it when Times reporters tell me A) that I'm "the left," and B) what my new view is. Thank you, patron, for being so kind to leetle peasant like me!
Still and all, it's still the Gray Lady, and truth has a way of leaking out from the moldy caulking beneath the sink:
Mr. Obama may find it frustrating that it is impossible under Senate rules to get something through without 60 votes, but those are the rules and he is going to play by them. He was not about to go to Connecticut and to whip up the public against Mr. Lieberman, or to press for him to be relieved of his leadership positions in the Senate...
One simple question: Why not?
They let slip the truth that that's exactly what he should have done.
I'm sorry, but Obama did campaign on the public option. I remember seeing it circled in red on this website. Can anybody find that?
The art of making the "left" (anyone who'll be required now to buy junk insurance, gee thanks) lay down like a beat dog and take it, is making them feel like they weren't paying attention and it's their fault that they are mad. Perfect example in same article, hyper-dick Rahm Emanual's supercilious sigh about going to 100,000 troops in Afghanistan:
"It’s not like he woke up one morning and said, ‘Let’s go fight a war in Afghanistan,’ " Mr. Emanuel said. "He talked about it in the campaign."
It's not like Obama wasn't talking about "two or three more battalions," fuck-head. About 10,000 troops. Had he said 70,000 more troops (from the 30,000 which were there) he wouldn't have been elected.
Bad memory is the enemy of the people. I t makes it easy for rags like the NYT to talk down to you and correct you like a little child. Problem is, I do remember. Oh yes, I do. And what I know now is these incumbents need an ass-kicking at the polls. If I wasn't sure about it before, I am now. Thanks NY Times and MSM for revealing just how stupid you think I am. It gave me a fresh burst of primary energy.
If you want to know the truth, the following is the only reading you need. It's health insurance industry campaign contributions to your congressman. Read it, and lose your lunch: MAPLIGHT.org (health insurance)
