The Senate floor over the past 10 days has just been a calvacade of Republicans either talking about abortion or about their newfound reverence for Medicare, in their ongoing, Hail Mary effort of killing healthcare reform by scaring senior citizens. Listening to these guys is enough to make you think that Medicare has been their holy grail for time immemorial.
Well, not so much.
[S]ince 1991, Senate Republicans have voted to slash $1.31 trillion from Medicare while their Republican counterparts in the House voted to take over $1 trillion away from America's seniors.
Media Matters has the full list of cuts proposed and voted on by many, many Republicans over the past 18 years. They don't care about protecting Medicare, and they care even less about taking care of America's seniors. They just want to kill this bill.
