Conservative talk show host, Glenn Beck, could easily qualify as one of the worse pieces of slime out there in America. But then again, calling Glenn Beck a piece of slime is an insult to slime everywhere.
Beck, a recent CNN hire, is one of these pathetic wingnuts on the radio who've made a living off of hate speech and sycophantic ramblings about America and those who want to disrupt the so-called traditional values of our country.
His comments have ranged from wanting to kill Michael Moore, calling Cindy Sheehan a tragedy pimp, and saying that he hated the families of 9/11 victims. And, how could I forget, comparing Jesse Jackson to Yasser Arafat.
Hey, CNN, kudos on your recent hire. All I got to say is the words, Michael Savage.
But, recently Beck and his race-baiting comments about Nigerians got me thinking about the American people in general.
In a rant about Nigeria's use of radio jingles to combat Bird Flu, Glenn Beck asked the question "are Americans as dumb as Nigerians."
Well, Glenn, I could say with honesty that I don't know that Nigerians are dumb, but I do know that they could qualify as being much smarter than us Americans.
Face it people, we have the stupidiest people in the world.
And, just doesn't start with George Bush. Though, there is a strong case that he's become the epitome of the dumbing down of our country.
But, a recent survey startled me and really got me wondering are we just a bunch of stupid people or do we not give a damn about what's going on in the world.
Last month in a survey, it was revealed that only 1 in 4 Americans could name more than one of the 5 freedoms granted by the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. But, more than half could name at least two characters of the popular Television show, The Simpsons.
Now, I believe the Simpsons is the greatest TV show, ever. But, when only 1 in 4 Americans could name more than one of the five freedoms in our constitution, but have a better grasp at naming members of a TV family, I fear for the sanity of this country.
Oh, but it gets good from here.
The survey also said that 1 in 5 Americans thought the right to own a pet was one of the freedoms guaranteed by the 1st Amendment.
All I could say is, Wow.
And, believe it or not, we are considered to be the best and brightest in the world.
For those of you who don't know what the 1st Amendment guarantees, as it pertains to freedom, here it is for you and please write it down on a piece of paper or on a lover's ass so you can't forget.
Freedom of
Speech
Religion
Press
Assembly
Petition for redress of grievances.
Now, in President Syphills country, Freedom of speech and Press is considered a stain. Though, after the wonderful performance from Helen Thomas, this morning, I believe that the press are starting to find its balls and question this man until he throws up his arms and says the magical words we've been waiting for, "I quit." Two words, five letters, George. I think you can manage that.
But seriously, this country is getting stupidier by the minute.
And, it starts at the top with the men and women in charge of our Government and the kool-aid drinkers who continue to sing their praises. Even though the evidence shows that the Bush administration have treated this country like a corporation run by John Gotti, Al Capone, and Sam Giancana.
To steal a phrase from pirate hooker and rabies victim, Ann Coulter, the Bush administration loves this country like O.J. Simpson loved Nicole.
But, yet, we've believed every word that came out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Every word.
We believed that Saddam and Osama were brothers in terrorism, when the evidence showed that Osama Bin Laden viewed Saddam as a "bad muslim."
We believed, Colin Powell during his testimony at the UN in the months leading up to the war in Iraq and why? Because, he was Colin Powell a man of integrity and in a nation where were supposed to be run by the best and brightest, we couldn't bother questioning the shady evidence of a man, because he was a general and had some Goddamn medals hanging from it.
And, what about the young people of this nation. A group of young Americans took their own destiny by their hands away from the status quo in the 1960's. The status quo that wanted them to go off and fight the Communists and come home to a house in the suburbs. Those young Americans spat at those preconceived notions and started a revolution to move this nation forward.
But the young in this nation has become so fixated on material goods and pop culture icons like American Idol that I question whether or not they're smart enough to take America back from the Neo-Cons who've been running it for the last decade.
No, this country is getting stupidier. We saw a nation at its weakest when it was parading outside of the courthouse that held the Michael Jackson. A nation which will hover around a deranged and mentally bankrupt pop star, but is willing to let George Bush taking away the freedoms that we so richly love.
There were over 50 million people who voted for George Bush in 2004. Yet, the man he promised to bring to justice for the 9/11 attacks is still running free.
Elect a man who is letting a killer roam free throughout the world. God Bless America, you know.
The Conservative talk show hosts from Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and others, believe that the world can be solve easily. With a simple-minded approach all of the evils can be eradicated.
And, yet, Americans believe it.
No, the world's problems and this country's troubles don't get solved like a typical Hollywood movie where the bad guys die and the world is safe from the forces of evil.
It doesn't take a big budget action movie formula to solve the problems we face in the middle east, and other nations abroad. Including are own.
But, I believe that's what Conservatives want.
To make everyone stupid so they could ransack and nobody wouldn't even notice.
No one would care if the Constitution grants more than 1 freedom. Just as long as we don't use are brain.
Bush seems to not give a damn about the task at hand.
And, sadly, there are those in this country who don't give a damn about our history and the freedoms granted by the greatest document ever, the U.S. Constitution.
