I'm more hopeful now than I have been in the last few weeks about Denise Majette's underdog bid to defeat Johnny Isakson in the Georgia US Senate race, although I have no illusions. He's a better campaigner than she is, and she has a tendency to stick her foot in her mouth when the microphones are around. It's going to be a real problem now that the general election is upon us. This will be a different world than the one she was in when she took care of her runoff opponent. What Congresswoman Majette needs is a lot of good national ink, and CNN can provide it for her. If she can generate something big, through some top notch PR people, things might tilt her way. Johnny isn't stupid. He is going to run a nice safe campaign as long as he can. If she gets positive press, his hand will be forced. So far so good, as
googling Johnny turns up lots of Denise.
One problem she faces comes ironically from Obama in Illinois, although a friend, Obama will continue to get the valentines from the flies in the press. Speaking of which, here's an opinion piece from Newsday about the potential impact of Obama, should he win the Illini seat.
