The Draft Gore organization (draftgore.com) and (electgore.com) amps up to high gear this week with a major write-in campaign in New Hampshire. Supporters are working very hard to remind voters of Mr. Gore's stance on the issues, and of the experience and credibility he would bring to this election. Our goal is to re-energize the overwhelming support the Vice President received in the 2000 election. We are very encouraged, and even more determined to get our message out!
Draft Gore is a grass roots organization that consists of thousands of Gore supporters, who's goal is to secure the Democratic nomination for Al Gore. They hope that once we demonstrate to Vice President Gore how deep and wide his support is, he will reconsider his decision and run of his own accord. If he does not, they will draft him by placing his name on state ballots and running write-in campaigns. This campaign will give grassroots Democrats the opportunity to decide who should represent them as the party's nominee in 2004. They believe that this should be decided by voters, and not be a prerogative of a few Democratic Party insiders.
Mr. Gore has been in the news recently for a series of speeches he has given, that have been tagged as " the most aggressive attack of the Bush Administration to date." Gore has been instrumental in the fight to hold this Administration responsible for its actions, with regard to the war in Iraq, the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, and for stonewalling the 9/11 Commission. In a resent speech in Washington, DC the Vice President had this to say about the Bush Administration:
"In the name of security, this Administration has attempted to relegate the Congress and the courts to the sidelines and replace our democratic system of checks and balances with an unaccountable executive. And all the while, it has constantly angled for new ways to exploit the sense of crisis for partisan gain and political dominance." "How dare they!"
The political draft has a long and successful history in the United States. Sometimes success was achieved at national conventions, while in other cases the candidate was persuaded to run as a result of popular support -- a call to higher duty, as Dwight Eisenhower referred to it. The Draft Gore organization believes that once the voters are aware that Al Gore is forcefully addressing issues that should be at the heart of the national debate, they will realize that he is the true and only credible leader of the Democratic Party. Vice President Gore received the largest Number of democratic Presidential votes in the history of the United States. They believe he should be leading us in this fight to restore our country's reputation around the world, and formulating the plan to get this country back on track to the peace and prosperity we enjoyed during the eight years of the Clinton/Gore Administration
