Sometimes I take for granted what a cool world we live in.
I'm sitting here in Madrid, getting ready to head home today after a great 2+ weeks vacation, and it seems like I have the world at my fingertips. My laptop has spent the evening crunching more than 12 million voter records for our GLBT GOTV effort this year, I'm able to keep up to date back home with regular checks on dKOS (CNN International will drive you crazy after you've seen the same story for the 20th time), and iTunes advises me the new Dixie Chicks album is avilable and, presto - it's on my iPOD ready to entertain me on the flight home.
But there's a reason for my entry and it's the Dixie Chicks...
It's been 4 years since their last album and an eternity since "the comment", which cost them dearly in country air play time. Funny, seems like they were right. The President is even more of an embarrassment than he was 3 years ago.
But the Dixie Chicks are back with a vengeance! Even if you're not a big country fan, I'd recommend you buy this one. It's not your father's country music, that's for sure. And where else can you make a political statement for $9 (the cost of the iTunes download)!
Madrid has been fun...back to the real world.
