Dear Young Republican,
I am a mother of a 14-year-old boy. He is an amazing and wonderful son, filled with energy, a desire to do good things in this world, and he is also one hell of a kid.
My son will not go and fight this war. My neighbors son isn't going to go either, as a matter of fact where I live I doubt there are more then 10 young men who will volunteer to serve in the military. This has me very concerned, for, well, you and your companions voted to support this war, you selected Bush over Kerry, yet you won't give this President what he needs right now.

Now, I hear all the time about "liberals" and the like. Without much research you can for yourself see who in this current administration has served in the Military and who has not. Also you can see exactly how many Democrats in congress have served compared to Republicans.
Our country is deeply divided, and now is the time for you to show Americans that you really do love this country. I loved it enough to vote for Kerry, I love it enough to protest this illegal war, my actions support the view I have, why don't yours?
If, as a mom I had voted for Bush, the only way I could have pulled the lever for him would have been to know that by doing so ment I was willing to see my son go off to Iraq to fight this war. I was not willing to do so, will never be willing to do so for this war, but, you did vote for Bush, you support this war, yet you will not enlist?
Your lack of support of our troops speaks louder then any words you may speak, the fact is that this country is looking to you, to see exactly what your true "values" are, and well, right now it is clear that America is seeing a lack of patriotism and values on your part.
Do you want America to be left with the view that young republicans are without values? Do you want America to think that Republicans won't fight to protect their country? Do you want Americans to think that Republicans vote for wars only if someone else will fight in their place?
Our nation needs young, strong men to go over to Iraq to serve their country. Our military is falling short of recruiting goals each month, which means those now serving will be called upon to stay longer, and be exposed to more harm. By not enlisting you are harming our current troops, you are forcing them to be exposed to harm because you are too afraid, too comfortable to go serve your country.
There is but one way to resolve our countries needs, you must enlist, you must do so now. You need to put off your education, your job, you need to put aside your family and do what is right, to do what you voted for, to do what you believe in.
At the end of the day if you do not enlist, your actions will prove to America that your love of self is greater then that of your country.
Sincerely,
Mom
