Israel wants to resolve its dispute with the United States over arms sales to China.
Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz held talks in Washington with Defense Department officials in an effort meant to end tensions between the two countries over Israeli defense and security relations with Beijing. The Pentagon has boycotted several senior Israeli defense officials, including Defense Ministry director-general Amos Yaron, and delayed military exports to the Jewish state.
according to globes, Amos Yaron was not a member of Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz's entourage in this talks.
Meanwhile Foreign Minister director-general Ron Prosor will hold a "strategic dialogue" in Beijing with Chinese colleagues this week, a clear sign, according to officials in Jerusalem, that Sino-Israeli ties were not impaired by the Harpy drone issue in December.
Israel sold China Harpy drones in 1994, a killer drone that hovers over enemy anti-missile batteries and radar systems and then destroys them by diving into them.
