Seems like things are falling in place for the Bush adminstration. While I seriously doubt they will be able to overcome the significant registration edge Democrats have in the Golden State, Arnold's victory might indicate something in the making. The geography of his triumph closely mirrors how Republicans dominated Calif. in the 70s and 80s. That is- by splitting northern California (San Fran, etc.) from southern and central Calif. If I'm not mistaken Arnold won or nearly won Los Angeles County, swept Orange County, and performed impressively in all other southern counties. Davis maintained Democratic strength in liberal northern California. Can Bush now try the same trick? Will the wildfires make voters more receptive to his stupid solution of cutting down trees? Will Arnold throw his full weight behind boy George, carrying him to victory??
