Here's a view from my window of most of the garden
It really looks a lot better after I put in redwood branches to hold up my tomatoes.

The redwood branches
These have been my superstars this year. English peas! Mmmmm, so tasty, and easy to grow. Not affected at all by bugs. I've already got my packet of peas to plant for the second crop at the end of summer.
Here they are growing about seven feet tall
These are some other types of beans that I've been growing. I can't remember what type, they were a mixed packet.
This was one of my superstars from last year, watermelon.
They do well with little water and insects tend to leave them alone, although the gophers did some damage last year.
My basil did well last year, and I'm hoping for a repeat. Pesto is one of my favorite foods. We use a pretty simple recipe, roasted pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, basil and olive oil. I've tried it with garlic, but I think that distorts the flavor too much.
These Chardonnay grapes are looking better than ever! I'm hopeful that they might even fruit this year.
The red table grapes can't even really fit in one picture, still waiting for fruit though.
Artichokes are a nightmare to grow here, the ants just won't leave them alone. I've sprayed with neem oil, organicide, and incesticidal soap. Now I'm starting to see some improvement, but it's still not pretty.
This eggplant is dominating, and I need to move it because it's overgrown it's space. Can't wait for these! :)
Last year the gophers got them, this year I've fenced the gophers out.
My strawberries are fruiting for the second time. They got absolutely devastated the first time around by ____ ? Either bluejays or rats. I trapped one huge rat that I heard crawling around, and I've seen the bluejays go for my strawberries.
Here's a mystery plant, it looks like some kind of pepper, but could be a weed. Any ideas?
My tangerine has fruited, now I hope that the fruit stays! My orange tree fruited too but all the little tiny oranges fell off. SO ANNOYING!
My brussel sprouts are sprouting. They were planted in January so it's about time.
My thornless blackberries are less than two weeks from ready to eat.
and the next set of berries (on the same plant) will be ready in about a month
My blueberries will be ready to eat even sooner.
My next step will be to spread some E.B. Stone Organics Ultra Bloom Plant Food to the plants that are about to bloom. I also got a cubic foot of worm castings that will probably be welcomed by many in the garden. After that I need to build some trellises for these blackberry and boysenberry plants or they will takeover everything.
