A well I bless my soul
Whats wrong with me?
Im itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say Im actin wild as a bug
Im in love
Im all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
My hands are shaky and my knees are weak
I cant seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck?
Im in love
Im all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
Elvis didn't get nearly as shook up as others are.
All seemed to be going well — until Dec. 8, 2006, when the project set off an earthquake, shaking and damaging buildings and terrifying many in a city that, as every schoolchild here learns, had been devastated exactly 650 years before by a quake that sent two steeples of the Münster Cathedral tumbling into the Rhine.
Hastily shut down, Mr. Häring’s project was soon forgotten by nearly everyone outside Switzerland. As early as this week, though, an American start-up company, AltaRock Energy, will begin using nearly the same method to drill deep into ground laced with fault lines in an area two hours’ drive north of San Francisco.
See here.
It's not surprising that even some liberals who aren't sun worshipers got shook up over the Big One but when some dittoheads got concerned for San Francisco you know the earth is moving:
Al Gore’s geothermal driller misled feds on earthquake risks
Gore says "the planet has a fever." I wonder if he’s worried about giving the already grouchy earth under San Francisco a splitting headache?
These winger folks are worse than the frankenfood freaks for lying but it is astonishing they can publish such propaganda wielding crayone with their knuckles.
Al Gore, of course, is only an investor in AltaRocks and not likely a large factor. It is hardly the same as Nancy Pelosi investing in T. Boone Pickens' dirty energy plans the master con artist labels Clean Energy.
And what does "Al Gore's company" say in defense of its plans to reduce San Francisco to rubble?
We took extraordinary care in choosing our site at the Geysers to avoid siting on a major fault. The Basel Project drilled into a significant fault.
Smaller faults mean smaller events, and the faults in the Geysers area are significantly smaller than at Basel.
The geology of the Geysers is very different - seismic studies predict events at the Geysers likely to be imperceptible at the surface.
Events of similar magnitude to Basel occur frequently in California.
Basel produced an event with a magnitude which is more than 10 times the size of the maximum event estimated for our project.
We have installed monitoring and control procedures and designed pressure relief mechanisms to minimize any impact.
We are employing proprietary technologies to ensure a safe and well-controlled project.
We have actively involved and informed the community.
Have huh?
AltaRock didn't do so hot informing regulators issuing a permit to proceed according to one of the suspects. Seems AltaRock was too polite to mention Switzerland.
In my inexpert opinion this is lunacy. More than that it is an extension of the focus on distant goals with all manner of obstacles involved while vast resources are available and lying idle currently.
Unlike conventional geothermal power and the spread of low temperature distributed geothermal power, EGS attempts to create artificial aquifers with hydraulic pressure and even explosives. Despite the bad press, normal geothermal drilling should present no more danger than oil and gas drilling.
Many here will be happy to know that a box is now automatically supplied for your hide rating.
