The brainiacs at KTVX make the characters in "Anchorman" look like the MENSA chess team. Why should they worry those pretty little heads?
It's not like Utah has had its share of casualties.
Incidentally, the fictional station in the movie "Anchorman" was also channel 4. Well maybe it's not so fictional. The people at Salt Lake City's ABC affiliate, KTVX-TV Channel 4, decided not to air a spot by Gold Star Families for Peace. The station devoted extensive coverage of Bush's visit to one of the few "safe" markets left for a presidential visit. I'm sure the decision was about not scaring advertisers... and I"m equally sure that the news department did not bat an eye at the blatant censorship.
This same station aired the Peter Jennings tribute recently. One has to assume the "news team" watched it ... with the sound turned town.... looking for ideas on how to properly wear a trenchcoat.
Not only should the station be embarrassed for thinking so little of its veiwership's ability to process ideas, but it should also consider why Bush picked their media market for his address to begin with. Clearly no one on the Channel 4 "Close to Home" team is going to ask a tough question.
