Seeing all the passionate and sometimes heated debate, despair and hope that has emerged on this site in the past few months makes me realize one thing. No matter which candidate wins, the most profound and positive thing to come along in years has already happened.
The internet has truly revolutionized politics, and not just for the candidates but for us. The sheer number of people who have been empowered by taking to the internet, debating the issues and all the while learning more than they probably ever
wanted to know will have an immense effect on politics, locally and globally. I assure you, power players everywhere are scared
shitless of the 'open source' revolution that includes this kind of uncontrolled, unsanitized (and profit-free) debate and dissent. Take for example the
Bagdad Burning blog, not to mention the massive amount of public attention dKos has been getting.
We've already won round 1 against the establishment and the status quo. So yes, I am wasting one of my two posts for the day to say YOU FUCKING ROCK, let's all keep pushing the boundaries and, even if 'your guy' doesn't win, we've all won something that won't go away in four years. The exponential growth of this medium all but insures the next election will be more heavily influenced by the 'little guy' than ever before, so keep fighting, thinking and writing.
