Paul Wellstone was a voice of reason in a sea of madness. His heart was pure, and his spirit strong. He was truly a man of the people who I personally miss so very much. I received this today in e-mail and then wanted to share it, as I suspect there may be other members here who also loved Paul Wellstone and shared his vision.
If there was any other man whom I would have voted for to be my President besides Al Gore, it would have been Paul Wellstone. His strength of character, his conviction, and his love for this country transcended the BS of Washington D.C. He spoke his mind and his heart, and he didn't care who liked it and who didn't. He put people first, and he always remembered where he came from. And even though he was living with MS he still traveled relentlessly in his green bus spreading light and truth to all in his path. This memorial is surely a fitting reminder of his commitment to the Progressive issues we must continue to keep fighting for.
I don't ask for recommendations with this diary. I ask that those of you who loved this man as much as so many of us did consider contributing to this memorial. It is his legacy to the American people, and it is our way of saying that his work and his life were not in vain, because we will now carry on his work for the people. And yes, I'm sending in what I can tomorrow.
Thank you.

Dear Jan,
Please save the date of Sunday, September 25, 2005 to join us for the dedication of the Wellstone Memorial and Historic Site in Eveleth Minnesota.
On six acres of wooded land, the site will be a place of commemoration and reflection where people can learn about Paul and Sheila's life and work. We hope that this helps people remember the spirit and ideals of the friends we lost that day.
The design for the Memorial is meant to preserve the site's beautiful natural setting with minimal environmental impact. Some materials and labor are being donated to keep the overall cost to just $250,000. Work on the site started in June and will be completed by the dedication date, September 25th, 2005.
Because of generous support from thousands across the country, we've raised $220,000 which means we only have $30,000 to go. If you haven't already, please consider making a special contribution to help us meet our goal.
Please help us complete this project to commemorate the life and work of Paul and Sheila Wellstone. Please click here to make a tax deductible donation!
