Trying to wrap my brain around this.
Is it possible that in the year 2005, with the entire capabilities of the US government, we aren't able to move 50,000 people out of a major US city within 5 days?
We just can't?
With everything at our power? Every possible effort our government could make? All the military? All the federal employees? They just can't do it?
Because that's really hard to believe.
This could be any city. It could be any disaster, natural or man-made. It could be a nuclear bomb. I'm assuming, with all our fears over the year so nuclear attack, they've done simulations of what would happen if someone nuked an American city and they needed to move 50,000 people out.
Tell me, they don't have a plan for that?
And with all the crap about homeland security since 9/11, coming up on the 4th anniversary, which the Republicans were so ready to celebrate and tell us how much safer we are now...
Because of George Bush and all his cronies, with all that, we can't get 50,000 people out of a US city in 5 days?
If I were the President, I'd drive a bus myself. I'd have everyone who worked for me driving a damned bus. I'd call the school districts in Houston or however the hell far away you have to go and say, I need 1,000 drivers and the buses, and follow me. We're going to New Orleans, and we're going to get these people out. Because we won't leave them to die.
And I was saying on Tuesday night, when they expected 15 feet of water in the entire city, that those people were going to die. That a lot of them were going to die.
I'm sitting in my house in South Carolina, just listening on TV and reading here, and I knew some of them were going to die, maybe a lot of them.
It's not like this is a search and rescue operation. They don't have to go find these people one by one. They've helpfully congregated where they were told. We know where they are, and they apparently can get them to a bus that can drive out.
So I don't believe the good old USA couldn't have gotten all these people out by now.
I don't believe it.
Would someone please ask Bush how it is that our entire government working together can't do this?
Hell, if he'd just asked for volunteers from neighboring states and put out a plea for buses, I've gotta believe thsoe people would be out by now. It really doesn't sound that hard.
I'm ready to stand on my roof and start screaming, GET THEM OUT! JUST GOT GET THEM OUT!
We all are practically screaming, GET THEM OUT!
How do they not hear us?
How do they get away with this shit, this, I'm so proud of the effort, shit. This, we couldn't have expected this. This, if they'd only left like they were supposed to. This, this is hard work shit.
Yeah, it's hard work.
If you can't handle it, get the hell out of the way and let someone else do the job.
I want this president utterly humiliated. I want him utterly defeated. I want him to be a broken man. To know the entire depths of his failure and to wallow in it, like those people in New Orleans are wallowing in shit and dead bodies. I want him to hate himself. I want him to fully understand exactly what he's done.
I want all the dead from that city to haunt him for the rest of his life, so that he never has another moment's peace, another slice of cake or time to play golf or ride his stupid bike. I don't want him to ever smile again.
There's no punishment I can think of that would be as much as he deserves.
