Via Steve Clemons, I learn that Danielle Pletka, VP for Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute, is going to be appointed Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs.
Pletka was one of the most ardent defenders of Ahmad Chalabi, the man the administration relied upon for "evidence" of WMDs in Iraq (turns out he was lying the whole time) and who was so corrupt that the US eventually cracked down by raiding his home in Iraq.
And now Pletka, unrepentent apologist for a criminal, is going to be actively running our Middle East policy. Oh, the absurdity of it all!
