I want to issue a formal apology for my last diary entry about whether people have "gotten over 9/11". I honestly didn't intend the diary to denigrate people's feelings or insult those who were closely impacted by 9/11. In retrospect I see that my entry was pretty crass and inconsiderate.
There seems to be a huge difference in the way 9/11 is viewed in different parts of the country. I probably should have been aware of it, but I wasn't. It's one of those things that seems totally obvious now that I think about it, but I just never have before.
Anyway, I screwed up and I'm sorry. I hope you can find it in your hearts not to hold it against me too much.
To those who complained about it before, I'm not planning on posting any more anti-Kerry rants. My feelings toward him haven't changed much (I'm not quite as angry as before), but more ranting isn't going to change anything.
I've also come to realize I'm something of a zealot, and not too considerate of other people's views. I don't tend to see that there's a middle ground, and in a confrontation my natural reaction is to go for the jugular.
I'm not sure I can change that, but I'm going to try to be less adversarial. I'll also try to tone down my fiery rhetoric since all it seems to accmoplish is pissing people off. I think I can play nice if I try-- I was a trusted user for a week or so ;)
Anyway, unlike Nixon, I'll still be here for you to kick around. I hope none of you hate me too much, but if you do, you can just consider me your personal scapegoat. Don't worry, I can take it.
